Aschaffenburg is regarded as the gateway to the Spessart hills, and is also referred to as the "Bavarian Nice" on account of its mild climate.The city’s landmark is the castle "Schloß Johannisburg", originally built by the electorate of the Archbishopric of Mainz (destroyed in 1552 and rebuilt 1605-1614).
Numerous galleries and museums cater for a variety of interests.
The Stiftsmuseum (monastery museum):
This former chapter house of the monasteries of St. Peter and St. Alexander, dating back to the monastery’s construction in the 10th Century, today houses the monastery museum of the city of Aschaffenburg.
Gentilhaus:
In addition to medieval sculptures, paintings and popular ceramics, the Gentilhaus features most prominently the works of artists befriended by Anton Gentil.
Naturwissenschaftliches Museum (science museum):
This exhibition is noteworthy for its extensive collection of insects, as well as a symbolic representation of the mineralogy and geology of the Spessart.
The former Rosso Bianco Automuseum (automobile museum):
This is now the venue for events such as circuses and concerts.

- Take the B8 slip road
- Continue across the Ebert-Brücke bridge and Willigis-Brücke bridge, heading towards the city centre
- The hotel can be found on the right hand side of Löherstraße, after 300 metres
By public transport:
- Take bus number 1 until you reach the stop at Löherstraße
